CANINE LIFE AND SOCIAL SKILLS (C.L.A.S.S.)

All Dogs Gym is thrilled to offer Canine Life and Social Skills (C.L.A.S.S.) classes, providing training that is relevant to real life -- training that focuses on the behaviors owners want most. Using reward-based training for dogs, and enjoyable, fun exercises and games for our human students to play with their dogs, our C.L.A.S.S. classes provide the best outcome imaginable: A well-trained dog, while having a good time getting there!

The Canine Life and Social Skills (C.L.A.S.S.) program was developed by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). Launched in 2011, C.L.A.S.S. was developed with input from both dog owners and non-dog owners, shelter workers, and professional dog trainers. The goal of C.L.A.S.S. programs is to benefit pet owners, their dogs, and the community through positive reinforcement training and strenghtened relationships between dogs and their owners.

But wait, there's lots more! Once your dog is trained, you and your dog can earn B.A., M.A., and PhD for Dogs Certificates by participating in and passing simple tests to demonstrate your dog's (and your) training. All Dogs Gym is proud that several of our Instructors are among the first 100 trainers in the world to have successfully passed the C.L.A.S.S. Evaluator's test. These talented trainers offer occasional tests for dog owners to earn C.L.A.S.S. "degrees for dogs."

Because of their relevance to real-life behaviors, C.L.A.S.S. training encourages on-going training that results in dog owners including their dogs in your family's activities. To quote from the C.L.A.S.S. website:

Dogs are continually learning with every behavior, so why not use training to be proactive in what your dog learns? With its emphasis on maintaining training skills, as well as advancing to higher levels of training, the C.L.A.S.S. program supports continual training.

There are so many reasons to continue training with your dog:

Training redirects your dog’s natural behaviors to acceptable outlets
Training builds your dog's behavioral repertoire
The more acceptable behaviors a dog learns, the less room there is for undesirable behavior
Training is fun for you and for your dog
Training increases hte odds that a dog will stay in the family for his lifetime rather than be given up for behavior issues
Having a well-trained dog makes it possible to engage in many more activities such as:
Earning C.L.A.S.S. B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. Certificates
Ongoing training classes
Dog sports and games
Animal-assisted therapy work
Outings and travel with your dog

At All Dogs Gym, we offer several levels of classes, starting with our B.A. for Dogs Class (Basic Manners) and our Puppy STAR classes. Graduates of these classes move onto our M.A. for Dogs Class (More Manners) and PhD for Dogs Class
