Level 1 Manners (Dog Obedience)

This class is the foundation for anything you want to teach your dog -- anything at all throughout your life together. You and your dog will learn the fundamentals of training and you teach your dog a variety of behaviors that owners consider necessary for basic manners and polite behavior. These are the behaviors owners tell us they want most. These include:

Sit
Lie down
Stay
Come when called
Walk without pulling on a leash
Greet guests politely, without jumping up on them
Calm, polite behavior
And more

You'll learn how to painlessly eliminate undesirable behaviors such as stealing food, jumping on people and more. Exercises are done off-leash as well as on, and we don't use painful collar corrections. Most importantly, your dog learns to learn and you'll learn how to communicate with your dog. The result is a cooperative educational partnership that lasts throughout the dog's life.

Our classes are based on Gail Fisher's critically acclaimed book The Thinking Dog, and students receive a copy of Gail's shorter work, The New Clicker Training Manual, which includes loads of helpful information beyond dog training.
